Prayer
“…for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Isaiah 56:7b
At Northwest we believe that prayer is the foundation of our house. Here are some principles we follow…
Pray continually! (1Th 5:17) “A life without prayer is no longer in tune with God as the creative source of all life; it mistakenly presumes that our world is self-sufficient.” (Hans Schwartz)
Pray patiently! God works in big timeframes and small timeframes. And it’s our job to remind him to change things regardless of the timeframe. As we do this, He changes us so that we trust him more. “God does not give us everything we want, but he does fulfill all his promises.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer)
Pray earnestly! – Earnest prayers are precise prayers. Eph 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.” – Earnest prayers are humble prayers. Mt 26:39 “…Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
Prayer opportunities: Prayer meetings on Tuesdays downtown at lunch and Friday mornings and Friday lunch at Wycliffe.
